Photography is the simplest, and also the most sophisticated of human inventions. On one hand, it derives from the observation of nature, and is based on demonstrable laws of physics and chemistry. But it is also complex and uniquely human, as it would not be able to exist without the powers of abstraction and imagination. It has always fascinated me, how a medium that is so firmly rooted in the material world can be such a powerful tool in the exploration of the transcendental. Read more
